National EMS Week

This week is National EMS Week. I feel obliged to post something about this. Plus my wife (quite blog savvy) said she would kick my ass if I didn't. Despite the appeal of that threat...here goes:

May 20 - 26 is National EMS Week.

There. I did it.

But did you know that May 20 - 26 is also:

National Public Works Week
National Hurricane Awareness Week
National Epilepsy Week
National Safe Boating Week
Schizophrenia Awareness Week
Tinnitus Awareness Week
National Medical Transcriptionists Week
Waterfall Week at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.

So, when the public works employee is injured and when the hurricanes hit and epileptics have seizures and people aren't safe in their boats and schizophrenics need help and people have ringing in their ears we'll bring them all to the hospital giving the transcriptionists something to do. Then we'll all go to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. We'll need it.

Happy EMS Week!

Dan,
Your always the first one in EMS to think of creative things such as this. Nice job!

Happy EMS week to you too!

Great summary of the week...but lets not forget national dog bite prevention week for postal workers...funny how it all connects back to us, yet we get the least respect...

Hmmm...well I have a couple thoughts...Isn't National EMS Week kinda like Mothers day? Shouldn't we always be trying to promote the things EMS week goes for (education, safety, how to call 911, etc)just like we should always thank our Mother and treat her nice (instead of "Whew, Mothers Day is over---got that out of the way for another year....").
You list a lot of other "celebrations " this week, so I counter with:

National Public Works Week
-Is this that the public works?
National Hurricane Awareness Week
-I try to always be aware of hurricanes
National Epilepsy Week
-Do I have to have a seizure this week?
National Safe Boating Week
-Uh, perhaps this should be done always....
Schizophrenia Awareness Week
-We think this is only because you want to identify and kill us.
Tinnitus Awareness Week
-Ring all the town and church bells to celebrate?
National Medical Transcriptionists Week
-Celebrate by leaving your notes in Swahili (for fun of course).
Waterfall Week at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
-Whiskeytown and waterfalls? I'm there....
